#5 Lou Gehric The Luckiest Man by David A. Adler illustrated by Terry Widener
This book is about the life of New York Yankee Lou Gehric. We read about him growing up in New York City and his mother encourages him to study and work hard. He is motivated to go to college and he later plays for the New York Yankees. The author of the book has a love for baseball and admiration toward Lou Gehric. The illustration also shows the fondness towards baseball and New York and most importantly Lou Gehric. This book is historically accurate and would be a great read for both girls and boys or anyone who loves baseball. I don't want to give away the ending so if you want to know how it ends then you will have to check it out and Read.

This sounds like a great book to read and I would probably use this to get more boys interested in reading! Not all boys may like baseball but I feel like a lot of them would and they would be interested in the topic as well. I think its great that they have them talking about how he wants to go to college because it can really get kids interested in going to school and college! Sounds like a fun book to read!
ReplyDeleteI think this book would be highly appealing to boys in early elementary school, because most are playing sports or watch sports on t.v. Also, I think this book would be a great motivator for kids to realize that they can go to college and follow through with their dreams. It also shows how your family can be a great impact on your life. This sounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like a really good book for teaching young children about motivation, and hard work. Although, this book would probably be more enjoyable for young boys, it could still be used to stress how important support from your family can be in helping you follow your dreams. I like that this book is historically accurate too. Altogether it sounds like an excellent book.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it could be a fun book to read. I think kids enjoy reading about sports and it helps when it is someone famous and it is historically accurate. It makes me curious that you did not want to give away the end. I hope it is a nice surprise. Thanks for the great review.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great book to show that their dreams can come true, if they just work hard at what they want. It could be a great class discussion to start the class with.
