Helen Keller the world in her heart by Lesa Cline-Ransome
This story is about the life of Helen Keller and her adversity she had to endure through her life. Helen has to use her other senses because she has lost her sight and hearing. The illustrations are very beautiful and used with paintbrush strokes. This story is how she deals with learning a new language through touch and signing. Her teacher is a wonderful, patient loving person who is deeply loved by Helen. she teaches Helen to see and feel with her heart. I would read this to K-2 classes and explain about diversity. If you want to know how this beautiful heart felt story ends go to your local library to check it out.

I really liked when you were presenting this book. I liked that it showed how Helen overcame her struggles and was still able to be successful in her life. I feel like this would be an inspiring book to read to kids and I'm sure the kids would love to learn about Helen Keller.
ReplyDeleteHer story sounds amazing. I can't imagine what it would be like to not have either of those senses. It shows us to appreciate everything we have, because others may not be as fortunate as us. You could even have the kids try an ativity where they try to do something without two senses, so they could realize how hard it is. This could also go along with an activity learning about the actual senses.
ReplyDeleteI loved viewing the illustrations and how much time was spent on each stroke. It is similar to how much time was spent with Helen Keller. I think this story is great for children to see that it is not all about them, and that they should be greatful for the little things. This is a familar story that could be introduced to young children in an interesting way.
